Faces of JBC: Colton Duff

Faces of JBC: Colton Duff

Dynamic, strategic, driven...

It's time for another edition of our Faces of JBC series, where we take a moment to highlight some of the hardworking members of the JBC Family. Today, we're getting to know Colton Duff.

Colton is a Quality Technician at our Northglenn, Colorado Center of Excellence. With a diverse background in quality management (and a passion for Indiana sports teams), let's learn more about what Colton brings to the JBC Team.

What did you do before working at JBC?

Before joining JBC, I gained quality-related experience across several industries. I worked as a Quality Distribution Coordinator at Paragon 28, a Metallurgical Quality Technician at IBC Coating Technologies, and a Research Laboratory Technician at Corteva Agriscience.

Why did you decide to go into Quality and what do you like most about it?

I decided to go into Quality because I’ve always been drawn to problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Quality allows me to play a key role in ensuring products meet high standards while also improving processes and systems that impact the entire organization. What I enjoy most is the variety -- every day presents a new challenge and the opportunity to collaborate with different teams to create solutions that add real value.

Describe your role at JBC and what attracted you to it?

At JBC, I work in a Quality Assurance role where I’m involved in a wide range of responsibilities, one of the aspects that initially attracted me to the position. My role includes working directly with customers on quality-related needs, managing supplier quality, conducting internal audits of the Quality Management System (QMS), maintaining compliance documentation, performing inspections, and conducting processes such as CAPA, PPAP, AS9102 and IMDS.

What has been your favorite project/what are you most proud of since working here?

Working with the Quality team at JBC to support the integration of the Quality Management System at the Denver site as part of the ISO 9001 certification process. I am very proud of the progress that has been made in Denver so far and the collaboration between the Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams that has been instrumental in driving the integration forward.

How do you feel you have grown professionally?

I have grown professionally in many ways during my time here at JBC. I've had the opportunity to travel to multiple sites to support work-related initiatives, which has broadened my experience and perspective. I also earned my Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification through ASQ, and I’m currently pursuing both Six Sigma Green Belt certification and Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification through ASQ.

Can you describe your job/company in three words?

Dynamic, strategic, driven.

Which JBC Value(s) means the most to you and why?

  1. Multi-Faceted: Being able to take on different roles and see things from different perspectives is extremely important. In fast-paced environments, being flexible and open-minded really helps, whether it's tackling challenges, teaming up with others, or just staying open to new ways of thinking.

  2. Always with Integrity: The core of quality is integrity. Quality isn't just a technical or procedural outcome, it's rooted in values, particularly honesty and moral consistency.

What is your greatest motivation?

My faith, wife, family and career are my greatest sources of inspiration, motivating me to continually grow and strive to be a better person than I was yesterday.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

In my free time, I love exploring the mountains, skiing, fishing, camping, traveling, and sharing quality moments with my family.

What is something about you that most people don't know?

I spent four years living in Shanghai, China, which gave me a deep appreciation for different cultures and helped me become more adaptable in new environments.

Who is the most famous person you've ever met?

Bob Burnquist
