Faces of JBC: Get to Know Daisy Gonzalez

Daisy Gonzalez

It's time for another great installment of our Faces of JBC Series, the place where we introduce the high performing members of our team that are so integral to our success as an organization.  Today, we are proud to introduce Daisy Gonzalez. Daisy joined the HST Materials team in 2017, and officially became part of Team JBC when JBC  acquired HST in early 2022.  We are so lucky to have her!

Without further ado, let's meet Daisy.

Where did you work prior to JBC Technologies?

I had my fair share of warehouse jobs but before joining the team here at JBC, but before warehousing, my first job was in retail at a department store. However, my last job before JBC was as a teacher assistant at a daycare school. The classroom I was in consisted of about 15 kids ages 2-4… Very different!

Why did you decide to go into shipping and receiving and what do you like most about it?

Unintendedly.  But it was an opportunity to grow with the company when the position was offered to me from working at the assembly table, so I figured, why not? I like the fact that my position allows me to do both physical and computer work.

Describe your role at JBC and how it fits with the big picture.

My role here as Shipping and Receiving, now primarily Receiving and Inventory Analyst, consist of unloading trucks, inspecting incoming material, organizing / forklifting material onto shelves, managing the accuracy of bin locations and on hand quantities of all sorts of material while condensing and managing the floor space.

What attracted you to JBC and what is your favorite part of your role?

I really like the fact that it’s a small facility and my role allows me to have communication with multiple departments. This has helped me understand the process of how things flow throughout the warehouse.

Tell us about the team you work on.

The JBC Chicago team is a special diverse group of smart individuals. We make things happen.

What is the best or most unique thing about working at JBC?

I absolutely love being a female in this department. Whether its unique or not, something about it seems to have some people in shock. I would say one of the best parts so far has been visiting the Colorado plant for training purposes and meeting their fantastic team!

So far, what has been your favorite project since working here?

I would have to say that the transition from HST Materials to JBC Technologies has been my favorite thing so far simply because it required everyone to be hands on in one way or another. It required group thinking, planning, effort, and lots of physical work. Although it was also a stressful project, it was one for the books!

How do you feel you have grown professionally/expectations for professional growth?

Over the years I’ve noticed that I have improved my problem solving and communication skills with the team. I’ve grown along the side of the responsibilities that are given to me.

Can you describe your job/company in three words?

Driven. Entertaining, Different.

What are you most proud of while working here at JBC?

I am proud of myself when I catch non confirming material before it goes down the line and it’s too late. I am proud for utilizing my Spanish speaking skills to be able to train in Colorado. I’m proud I finally learned how to forklift. I’m proud to be helpful to my peers. Overall, I’m MOST proud of being myself.

What is your greatest motivation?

My greatest motivation is my younger self because I owe her a lot, but also my family. They keep me going.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I enjoy playing volleyball, jumping rope, taking nature walks, grilling when it’s not too hot outside and spending time with my family. I recently picked up a hobby of making flower bouquets out of ribbon.

What is something about you that most people don’t know?

I don’t know how to swim.
