It's time for another edition of the Faces of JBC series, where we shine a spotlight on the behind-the-scenes heroes of JBC. Today we had the pleasure of sitting down with Lauren Widlowski, a customer service specialist at our Elk Grove, IL Center of Excellence who has been with us since 2021. 

 Let's get to know Lauren...

 Where did you work prior to JBC?  

I worked for HST Materials when we were acquired by JBC Technologies. Before manufacturing, I worked in the food service industry. 

Why did you decide to go into Customer Service and what do you like most about it? 

I started at HST Materials as a secondary shipper/receiver. I quickly took on the customer communications needed for the shipping department, I just felt it was more efficient to cut the middleman out of the communications. This landed me the opportunity to move into full-time Customer Service with JBC Technologies!  

Coming from the food service industry, I think Customer Service was always calling my name! I work well with others, and I strive to provide customers with a good experience. Collaborating with different departments to fulfill the customer’s needs is what I like most about my job. A happy and satisfied customer feels pretty rewarding too! 

 Describe your role at JBC and how it fits with the big picture. 

My role as a Customer Service Specialist is customer communication from start to finish. I am involved in new part launches, quoting, order entries, expedites, customer complaints/issues with products, shipment notifications, etc. You name it, it starts here! I think strong and consistent customer communication plays a very important role in the big picture of the business; I am the face of JBC in customer’s eyes. I represent the company in every communication!  

 What attracted you to JBC and what is your favorite part of your Customer Service role? 

In all honesty, I fell into JBC once HST was acquired. I was excited for JBC to acquire HST as it is a much bigger corporation. Just as I had hoped, JBC has already given me so many opportunities! I feel like I have so much room to grow here. My favorite part of my role as a Customer Service Specialist is collaborating internally with all departments and getting opportunities to travel to our other facilities!  

 Tell us about the team you work on. 

My JBC team is truly remarkable! My Customer Service team is a well-oiled machine and so helpful to each other. My Elk Grove team has grown from HST to JBC together and throughout all the challenges we faced during the acquisition, we came out as a stronger close-knit group. I have made awesome relationships with team members at other facilities as well. I couldn’t ask for a better team! 

 What is the best part/ most unique about working at JBC Technologies? 

I think the best part of JBC is having several locations and the opportunity to travel! The most unique part of JBC is how diverse our team is!  

 So far, what has been your favorite project since working here? 

My favorite project has been JBC’s acquisition of HST. There was a lot of work to do around that time to clean up our old system, onboard the new system, and officially get things going under JBC Technologies. I think it tested and proved our abilities in the Elk Grove facility! 

Can You describe your COmpany/job in three words? 

Motivating. Knowledgeable. Innovative.  

What is your greatest motivation? 

My family, especially my late mother, and my fiancé & our future together.  

What are some of your interests outside of work? 

Reading, cooking, nature walks or bike rides, and spending time with family. 

What is something about you that most people don’t know? 

I played Badminton in high school. 

 

How do you feel you have grown professionally/expectations for professional growth? 

I personally feel I have grown tremendously under JBC Technologies. Moving from shipping/receiving to full-time Customer Service Specialist has increased my workload and given me more opportunities to collaborate with our other facilities. I learn from my team every single day, which I think overall provides me with experience to continue to grow here! 

What are you most proud of while working here at JBC? 

I am proud to work on a team that adapts to challenges and changes in the business so well. I am also proud of how far I have come in the manufacturing industry in such a short amount of time, with such little experience coming into it.
